This past Thursday (October 29th) we had ICFOnian Dr. Guillermo Gerling giving us a talk on the topic of renewable energies, with emphasis on photovoltaics. We had a very interactive discussion afterwards.

Abstract: Now more than ever, we are completely aware of climate change and the urgency to avoid it. Yet, many questions remain about how renewable energies (REs), and especially solar photovoltaics (PV), are key to guarantee a sustainable future. In this talk, I will review the origin of the energy problem, the current status of REs and the research and technology transfer efforts done at the Organic Nanostructured PV group at ICFO, followed by an open discussion on these topics.
